Although the viticultural tradition in the Matuško family is rich, our beginnings were modest. In 1997, we tried for the first time in the production of wine for the market in our small winery in Potomje. This required a serious approach to grape and wine production in order to meet traditional values and principles. Thanks to the family tradition, but also to the education of Mr. Matuško, this was the beginning of the dizzying rise of Matuško wine. Combining family culture with our personality, primarily charm and playfulness, we have given a personal, unique stamp to our wines, which throughout these years the market has recognized countless times, both awards and tourists from around the world who visit us today.
Apart from the unique character of our Plavac, what gives recognition to our wines is precisely the passion we invest in the entire process. Our whole family has been dedicated to grapes and wine for generations. That is what we know best, what gives us freedom and peace. We had a great desire to present to the world our work and our uniqueness, which required a lot of effort, time and sacrifice. Yet at the end of the day, that’s what makes us happy and connected as a family, we just can’t imagine a different life for ourselves.
Our wine, like any other, requires complete attention and dedication. That is why nothing is left to chance. Although we have modernized the process itself, our work is based on the rich tradition and culture of creation that our grandfathers nurtured. It is important to us that our wines tell the story of the history of our homeland and provide their own distinctive character. Therefore, we pay absolute attention to the entire process from the vineyards to the production of wine in order to maintain the authenticity and uniqueness that the Pelješac country provides us.

The vision
We have introduced many years of experience and tradition into a new era of winemaking and viticulture. Croatia, and with it Pelješac, have been cultivating the history and culture of creation for centuries, and only relatively recently have our wines started to receive world attention. It is our great wish to keep this culture alive with our further work, to show again our inviolable quality on a world level in order to bring our tradition and legacy closer to the rest of the world in the light that our wines deserve.
